Thank God It’s Monday™. Develop your competence. There are no guarantees to employment these days, but there are guarantees that you can remain employable and the best way to do that is to improve your competence. That is your task.

Now your job may offer training, certainly take as much of that as you can take, but don’t stop there. Read at least one book per month in your specialty, in management or leadership or business. Find out everything you need to know about how to be good at what you do. Read your industry journals. Know what’s going on in the industry so that you are apprized in knowing whom your competitors are, what the opportunities are, and what your customer’s needs are.

As important as anything else read personal development books. At the end of each year you’ll be improved by the books that you read and the people you meet. Books are a wonderful way to lead you to be more competent in what you do and more confident and stronger in making it happen.

Have a great Monday!
