Do you speak with good purpose?
In other words, are you always saying things that improve the situation or helps someone move ahead? Speaking with good purpose is how we reveal our character and our value systems. Yes, people will disappoint you. Yes, things will go wrong, it’s part of life.
If you have an organization, most likely you’ve also got problems, but how you speak of others makes a big difference. Instead of holding someone in a negative space, and telling others about it, take the higher road and be willing to see what’s possible within them. Ask for what you need, but speak always with good purpose and ask yourself, “Is what I’m saying advancing the situation or is it pulling back from the situation?” Be the person who advances every situation by always speaking with good purpose.
