Appreciation

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Thank God it’s Monday!™ “Nobody appreciates me.” “I never get a pat on the back for a job well done.” We’ve heard all these complaints before and most of us have even given those from time to time. It’s no fun to feel unappreciated. But the answer, believe me, is NOT to complain about it. The answer is to become part of the solution.

Most under-appreciated employees are not alone in their misery. They’re usually part of a workplace with no culture of appreciation. The best thing you can do in this situation is to help create that culture. Express appreciation at least 20 times today, not just for what people do around you, but for who they are. Watch the faces of people whose days are made by your simple act of kindness. In no time at all, you will find yourself on the receiving end. When you help to create a culture of appreciation, everybody wins.

Have a great Monday!

Will Trumps Talent

Monday, September 19th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Legendary football coach Vince Lombardi once said, “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.” So often we seem to forget the power of will.

Talent exists, don’t get me wrong. But in most every office, wouldn’t you rather take a moderately talented guy with off the charts will over a genius who doesn’t give a hoot? Seems like we would every time.

What is your will like? Are you committed out of your mind to being extraordinary every day? If so it will show. And if you’re not there now, it’s just a decision that can be made right this second. So go ahead, create a great Monday!

The Magic 3

Monday, September 12th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ What separates successful teams from the mediocre? From their book The Orange Revolution, Adrian Gostick and Chester Elton conducted a 350,000 person study that revealed the answers.

Reason #1: The drive to be great. Successful companies consistently commit to top performance.

Reason #2: Honesty. Poor teams lack honesty. Open debate and comfort are necessary for maximum success.

Reason #3: Lack of Selfishness. Company success is a product of collective productivity. Companies thrive when each individual cares about every other individual’s success.

So where does your organization fall? Are you acting as a successful organization, or are you slipping through the cracks into these poor habits that pull you back from what’s possible for you. Drive, honesty, and lack of selfishness make the difference.

Make Your Life Boil

Monday, September 5th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Water begins to boil at 212 degrees. Meaning, at 211 degrees the water is really hot. But one degree, one single degree, marks this momentous distinction.

Imagine for a second that you’d never seen water boil. Would you suspect this feat to be possible? If you’d never experienced boiling, how would you imagine the concept of boiling?

Take this model and apply it in your own life. Perhaps you need just one degree more, and then you’ll boil with success! Imagine that. Where are the sources of heat in your life that you haven’t tapped into? How can you push through just one small degree to bring your life to a state of boiling and making things happen?

Swing Your True Swing

Monday, August 29th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ The game of golf is really quite simple. The struggle is suppressing the distractions, calming yourself such that you are in complete tune with your body, and maintaining unparalleled focus. In the great movie, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Bagger Vance put it this way: “He got a lot of shots he could choose from… Duffs and tops and skulls, there’s only ONE shot that’s in perfect harmony with the field… One shot that’s his authentic shot, and that shot is gonna choose him… There’s a perfect shot out there tryin’ to find each and every one of us…”

I truly believe that. Maybe you’ve learned to swing an ugly swing, but you’ve grown comfortable with it. And now that you’re trying to correct your bad form, things aren’t feeling natural.

Step out of your comfort zone, and let that true swing come through you. Let your innate wisdom lead you powerfully.
