Out on the Skinny Branches

Monday, April 18th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ I’m not sure where the notion gained acceptance, but sometimes the unwise will suggest that it is not okay to make mistakes. I argue the contrary.

Mistakes often indicate that you’ve tried something new. Mistakes often result from action. But most importantly, mistakes are always learning opportunities, provided you learn the lesson so that you don’t repeat that same mistake.

It is incredibly easy to find your groove and continue on fearlessly in that groove. But sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone and let yourself fall. You will not be successful every time. But if you never step into the unknown, out onto the skinny branches, you’ll never achieve the success you desire.

Have a great Monday!

How You Do Anything is How You Do Everything

Monday, March 28th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ It’s true: How you do anything is how you do everything. So with this understanding, take pride in the ‘ordinary’ tasks.

Take answering the phone. Do you pick up the phone with zest and pizzazz? Do you blow the caller out of the water so they are compelled to open up?

You see, the distinction between ‘ordinary’ and ‘extraordinary’ customer service is miniscule. Put in that ounce of extra effort that tips the scale and moves you past the others.

Smile as you answer, and let the smile transfer through to the caller. Ask questions, and care about the answers. Answer with love, and genuine interest in helping, and that attitude will permeate everything you do, because how you do anything is how you do everything.

Have a great Monday!

When More is Less

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

One of the most counter-intuitive studies EVER on motivation came out a few months ago from MIT. At first glance, it’s just bizarre. But the more you think about it, the more powerful, and sensible, it becomes.

Who Motivates the Motivator?

Thank God it’s Monday!™ To give a dollar, you need a dollar. To shed a pound, you need a pound. Bottom line, you can’t give what you don’t already have.

Well, the same goes for inspiration. You CLAIM that you want to motivate others. You CLAIM that you want to stand as an example. Bottom line, you CLAIM that you want to inspire. Well then, spend time inspiring yourself. Every single day!

Make it a habit to read about the miraculous. Hop on the web and check out an inspirational quote. Identify those who have excelled in your field, and have conversations with them. Ask meaningful questions. Why and how have they been so successful?

Only then, once you have firmly established inspiration in YOUR life, will you effectively inspire those around you.
