Relish the Journey

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Imagine that I press a magical button and you’re on top of a mountain. The view is breathtaking. You see for miles: rivers, valleys, trees, and elk roaming a valley.

Now imagine that you had to climb that mountain. You had to sweat. You had to work. You had to push beyond what you’d previously thought possible. Don’t you think the view would now be just a bit more breathtaking?

Denis Waitley’s words are right on: “Winners take the time to relish their work, knowing that scaling the mountain is what makes the view from the top so very exhilarating.” Love the challenges you face. Relish the journey.

Have a great Monday!

Out on the Skinny Branches

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Thank God it’s Monday!™ I’m not sure where the notion gained acceptance, but sometimes the unwise will suggest that it is not okay to make mistakes. I argue the contrary.

Mistakes often indicate that you’ve tried something new. Mistakes often result from action. But most importantly, mistakes are always learning opportunities, provided you learn the lesson so that you don’t repeat that same mistake.

It is incredibly easy to find your groove and continue on fearlessly in that groove. But sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone and let yourself fall. You will not be successful every time. But if you never step into the unknown, out onto the skinny branches, you’ll never achieve the success you desire.

Have a great Monday!

How You Do Anything is How You Do Everything

Monday, March 28th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ It’s true: How you do anything is how you do everything. So with this understanding, take pride in the ‘ordinary’ tasks.

Take answering the phone. Do you pick up the phone with zest and pizzazz? Do you blow the caller out of the water so they are compelled to open up?

You see, the distinction between ‘ordinary’ and ‘extraordinary’ customer service is miniscule. Put in that ounce of extra effort that tips the scale and moves you past the others.

Smile as you answer, and let the smile transfer through to the caller. Ask questions, and care about the answers. Answer with love, and genuine interest in helping, and that attitude will permeate everything you do, because how you do anything is how you do everything.
