Master of My Fate and Captain of My Soul

When Henley wrote, “I am the master of my fate and I am the captain of my soul,” what he failed to mention was that it’s true, because we have the power to control our own thoughts.

You see, we sometimes collapse distinctions, and we decide because one thing is bad, therefore something else is assessed as being bad, and yet it is something that we assess. It’s an opportunity for us to see something differently. And so, if we see challenging things as being opportunities, as opposed to being devastating things, that is where we control the destiny of our fate. And it creates an opportunity for us, because we now see what’s possible, as opposed to focusing on what’s not possible.
