My mentor said these same words over and over again: “Only study with those who have their information in order.”
Hmm.
He was trying to protect me from those who teach me things that didn’t work for them. And there’s many of those out there.
There are a few people who have done the work to achieve mastery of distinctions and understandings in their areas of specialty—people who deserve the ability to share that information and become mentors and masters for others. But there are others whose advice is just a pretty fable, untethered to anything in the real world. Avoid them.
It’s important for all of us to choose our masters and mentors carefully. Always choose to study with those who have their information in order and have therefore earned the right to share that information.
