The Little Things

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Consider the services offered by a lawyer or a doctor. With a doctor for instance, the patient is unaware of what makes a phenomenal diagnosis. It’s unlikely that a lawyer’s client will look at the attorney’s plan for the case and point out flaws. The client simply is not an expert in these fields.

So, they make a judgment off the one thing they can gauge—the relationship. Do they feel valued? Do they feel cared for? Do they feel important?

No matter what your profession, spend time on the little things. In the long run, it’s the little things that give comfort, establish the relationship, and make the difference.

Have a great Monday!

When More is Less

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

One of the most counter-intuitive studies EVER on motivation came out a few months ago from MIT. At first glance, it’s just bizarre. But the more you think about it, the more powerful, and sensible, it becomes.

Clarify Up Front

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Have you ever spent long and laborious hours on a project, only to turn it in for approval and find out you went about it all wrong?

Well, we’ve all been there. But you must learn to navigate around this. Perhaps you forgot to ask for the conditions of satisfaction.

If Joe delegates a task to Bob, prior to committing ample and potentially wasted time to this task, Bob will get approval from Joe along the way, clarifying that the work he has completed so far falls in line with Joe’s conditions of satisfaction.

It’s a great system. Only after receiving the go ahead will Bob really go forward with the task. Bottom line—it’s quite a bit less strenuous to turn back when you’re a block down the road to clarify the conditions of satisfaction versus at your destination.

Implement this strategy, focus on the outcome and create a great Monday!

Results Trump Brains

Monday, January 10th, 2011

Thank God it’s Monday!™ You know the guy… he aced every test, answered every question correctly. The all-around classroom standout. You’ve fallen out of touch with him since high school graduation, but given his academic record, you’re convinced he’s a billionaire somewhere.

It’s possible, but it’s just as likely that you’re wrong. In fact, a nationwide study found that people of below average intelligence were, overall, just as wealthy as those with higher IQs.

So what does this mean? You’re smart enough! Achieving monetary success is not simply a product of the brain. Moreover, you control your success.

Look at your latest paycheck–the number you’re looking at is a direct reflection of what you think you’re worth, because if it wasn’t, you would change it. Things like, how badly you want it, persistence, and outside support, dramatically affect success.

Don’t limit yourself. Never assume you know less. You have the ability to make it, but only as far as YOU BELIEVE you can go, and you commit to deliver massive results!

Have a great Monday!

Whacked-Out Workplaces: How to Take Charge Today to Create a Workplace that Rocks

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

We’ve all been there. You walk into a bank, restaurant or store and suddenly feel it, that vague sensation that all is not well. It drips from the ceilings and sits in puddles on the floor. The employees are lost in thought, unable to decide whether they’d rather be somewhere else or stay and kill each other. And you’re the lucky one bathing in all the poison they can ladle up.
