Gratitude

Thank God it’s Monday!® You have a job. It’s not perfect, but a lot of people have no job at all right now. More than half of Americans are currently unemployed or underemployed. Half! So if you’re getting a paycheck, start by being grateful for that.

If you’re underemployed, bringing that chip on your shoulder because you’re making less than last year is not the way to recover that lost income.

Lack of gratitude is the fastest way to dry up abundance that you do have. Acceptance is the answer to your happiness. Gratitude attracts positive responses, which in turn attract positive things. Express your gratitude for your projects, for your coworkers and your boss… heck, appreciate it all!

Have a great Monday!

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Tom Watson, the founder of IBM, broke down the phenomenal success of his company. First, Tom had a clear picture of what the company would look like upon completion. Then, Tom created a clear picture of how the company would act upon reaching this level of success. So from the get-go, he decided to look and act that way. Quite fittingly he states, “We didn’t ‘do’ business at IBM, we built one.”

So whether it’s your business, your relationships, or whatever it may be, find your vision—find a clear and detailed vision.

How will you act once you get there?

Implement Watson’s strategy, and begin acting that way today.

The Power of Language

Monday, August 15th, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Say goodbye to negative language. Words like “can’t,” “unable,” “impossible…” eliminate them from your vocabulary! To a far greater extent than you know, limiting beliefs and limiting language inhibit achieving what is possible. Refine your language to state what you can do. Today be conscious to stay away from any ‘nt words: can’t, won’t, don’t. Instead ask yourself, “How can I?” and tell people what you can do, and go ahead and create a great Monday!

Stick to the Strategy

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Poker, for those at the highest level, is more than a game of luck. Though luck clearly plays its role, a good player has a strategy—a system they have developed and that they follow. When dealt a pair of aces, chances are you’ll play. When dealt a 7 and a 2, the cards are mucked immediately. But then comes the flop: 7, 7, 2. If you’d held the other cards, you’d have a full house!

Frustrated? Of course. But a professional wouldn’t be. A good player knows they played the hand correctly. They know they’ll get hurt in the long run if they consistently play those lowly hands. They’re not bothered by the missed opportunity.

So chances are, once in a while you are going to miss your ‘full house.’ And chances are you’ll be a bit frustrated. But realize that proper technique and strategy pay off long term. Move on to the next big hand.

Have a great Monday!

Perception Wins

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

* Transcription

Thank God it’s Monday!™ Success in the marketplace is not so much a measure of quality as it is a measure of the perception of quality.

Take for instance the historic competition between Pepsi and Coke. You would think that Coke tastes better, given that it consistently outsells its competitor. But does it really?

The Pepsi Challenge revealed otherwise. After conducting nationwide blind taste tests, the conclusion was undeniable. 57% of consumers preferred the taste of Pepsi compared to the 43% who preferred the taste of Coke. Interesting, isn’t it?

You don’t have to be the best. But you do have to be perceived as the best. Perception is everything. Create a great perception.

Have a great Monday!
